Engelmann Spruce 2
Styled by Todd Schlafer. A very natural, alpine aesthetic with multiple apices. Great deadwood!
With its size, this tree would make a nice focal point in a garden.
Colorado Blue Spruce 8
Styling done in collaboration with Todd Schlafer. Collected from a very unique fin or microclimate in Colorado.
Ponderosa Pine 7
Styling and maintenance done in collaboration with Todd Schlafer. There is a portion of the Lang nanban that's chipped on the back side, however, it's structurally sound. Nice literati design.
Ponderosa Pine 12
Styling and maintenance done in collaboration with Todd Schlafer. This tree makes for a very interesting conversation piece with its long sinous trunk, deadwood characteristics and twists in the foliage canopy. It was lying completely flat when I found this specimen on the rock - a characteristic of very old trees. I originally potted this tree vertically to aide in the development of the root system. It was then repotted as a cascade in 2017 and given its first styling in 2019.
Engelmann Spruce 1
Styled by Todd Schlafer. Todd did an incredible job carving the deadwood at the top of the tree - it blends well with the natural deadwood at this point.
Ponderosa Pine 2
Styling and maintenance done in collaboration with Todd Schlafer. Collected in the early 90's. This tree was featured in ABS' 'North American Bonsai' published in 2007.
Chinese Elm 2
Old twin-trunk import from China with great ramification, bark and overall character. The glaze of the Benda container compliments the fall color.
